The Challenge
The project for the Villa Romana del Varignano represents an avant-garde fusion of archaeological memory and digital technologies, designed to redefine the museum experience and cultural accessibility.
Within this broader ecosystem, I personally developed the Augmented Reality (AR) experience. This feature is designed to allow visitors to visually “reconstruct” the ancient spaces by overlaying digital models directly onto the current ruins, bringing the original architecture back to life. Alongside this, the overall project integrated a strategic QR code system placed along the route to trigger immersive audio guides.
At the core of the site’s inclusivity goals, I was directly responsible for designing and developing the interactive touch table: a technological tool engineered to break down architectural and physical barriers. This station ensures that every visitor can enjoy an accessible, dynamic, and in-depth exploration of the villa’s layout and artifacts, truly transforming history into a universal experience.
